Title: We Can Be Heroes: Preventing Bullying in the Perioperative Workplace
Rebecca Roe is an experienced nurse of over 40 years of professional practice in a variety of roles attempting to immerse herself in the bedside nurse and how to improve the workplace. She has exemplified lifelong learning by attaining a doctorate in nursing practice which has enabled her current role in training our nurses for the future. Her main area of practice has been with adult health focused on surgical nursing and all aspects of surgical services.
Her credibility comes from her experiences in direct care and the slow advances in workplace improvements to make nursing care more patient centered in reality rather than in promotions for healthcare organizations. Educating employees in pragmatic processes to make improvements from grassroots efforts to leadership training has been a priority.
What Rebecca brings to this conference is the belief that each of us holds the power to be a hero to stop the incivility and bullying that is pervasive in not only the perioperative environment but other healthcare environments as well. Nurses are not only patient advocates but can be advocates for each other. Let’s be heroes
