Title: Depression and Health-Related Quality of Life Among Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Attending Primary Diabetic Center
Introduction: Type-2 diabetes mellitus represents a
significant global health concern as there is an emerging recognition of its
impact on mental health, particularly depression. Understanding
the psychosocial aspects of T2DM is crucial, as they can significantly influence
the overall well-being and quality of life of affected individuals.
Objectives: The main purpose of the study is to examine the
level of depression and health-related quality of life among patients with type
2 diabetes attending Diabetes Center and the relationship between depression
and health-related quality of life.
Methodology: This is a quantitative
non-clinical, cross-sectional investigation involving a population of diabetic type 2
patients visiting the diabetic center for follow up who are selected by
convenience sampling technique. A self-administered questionnaire was used to
assess the level of depression (PHQ-9) and theEQ-5D-5L, which assess health related
to quality of life.
Results: total
number of 55 participants involved in the study, socio-economic with clinical
characteristic were determined. The average of depression prevalence was 9.09%,
the level of health-related quality of life was 60.3% and the correlation
coefficient between PH and EQ-5D was -0.9624 which is significant.
Conclusion: There is negative significant correlation
between depression and health related quality of life among diabetic patient
type 2, who are attending Sur Diabetic Center in South Sharqiya Region.
